Hand Signals For Driving Test In Barbados 0 Comments. The island of Barbados is approximately 166 sq miles, the majority of which is flat land.
Hi again all, We're planning on hiring a car, taking advantage of driving on the left so we won't get too confused! We're undecided as to whether we should hire it for one or two days. We want to see both east and west coasts (we're staying on south coast) and would also like to see some inland places like harrisons cave. Would we have time to do all this in one day?
How long would it take to drive all the way round the island? Where would you recommend are the best places to see the real barbados? Also, is it fairly easy to navigate with a map? I'm not the best map reader in the world and rely on my sat nav here in the UK! Thanks, Kitt.
Hi Kitt I would suggest you hire a car for a couple of days, especially if you want to visit places like the caves & the abbey. Maybe do the west coast one day and the east another?
We visited on this trip and you could spend quite a while there. They've got a cafe so you could have a snack or lunch there as well. We didn't spend as long there as I would have liked as it was raining, but the film show is really interesting and the rum is lovely. You will no doubt get lost, but the island is so small it won't be long before you find out where you are or a local helps you. Most beaches now have good Beach Access signs so they are easier to find. Try Folkestone Marine Park on the west coast for snorkelling off the beach.
On the east coast I like church for the view, for the scenery. Roundhouse is good for lunch. Further south, is lovely and is one of my favourites for a day with lunch at the Mr Delicious van. Agree 2 days. You can certainly drive round the island in a day but if you want to spend time sight seeing you will need the extra time.
As someone said you also have to build in the lost time. Maps are not great. 'Lost time' is not so bad since the Cricket World Cup when they put up far more road signs. I think Stoutes are doing a deal just now, hire for 2 days & get 3rd free.
You might not use it on the 3rd but you never know. Alternatively you could drive one day have a day off and drive the next. Kitty, Regarding car hire we always use Stoutes and they are fab, great service, great cars and good prices.
Have you tried the below link you get a quote: Just fill in your details in the instant quote box on the right hand side. Blue box - Instant Quote. Or E-mail them at [email protected] Personally I think you will def use your car for 3 days there is so much to see and to have the freedom to go where you want and when you want is worth the cost of a hire car. You will get lost, but dont panic, just head towards the sea, and you'll end up on the main coast road, and the locals are more than happy to help with directions.
2 more sleeps to go and I will be arriving in to collect my hire car from Stoutes at the airport!
